The speed of today’s game is what makes it so remarkable to watch. Everyone in the NHL has put endless hours into their skating mechanics so they can play at the speed of the NHL. Here at In-Tech, we work with our athletes to build a strong foundation of skating mechanics in order to push them to the next level. Our elite program focuses greatly on edgework, as well as power and speed while creating an understanding for when and where on the ice these movements are used to give our players the edge they need to be successful in games.
Our Elite Skills Circuit focuses mainly on puck handling in confined spaces. The North American game is played on an NHL sized ice sheet and is feeling smaller and smaller every year because of the increased speed of the overall game. Players are bigger, faster, and stronger reducing the amount of occasions a player is given more than a second or two to make a decision. Players must feel comfortable in these high-pressure, game-like, situations. Therefore, our drills are game situation oriented while focusing closely on the fine mechanics of puck protection, puck handling, scoring in tight, and deking.
Our Elite Skills, Conditioning, and shooting classes combine all aspects of the game on our NHL pad here at paramount. It is important to be able to focus and execute while being tired, so therefore these classes are high intensity with multipurpose drills to keep players engaged and thinking the game while exhausting themselves physically. There are many occasions in a game when a player may be tired, but that is no excuse for poor performance. Players must learn and be capable of executing the coaches game plans along with their contributions to the team’s success by playing their role, even when they are tired. We combine skating, puck handling, shooting, and the concept of creating time and space through changes of speed and direction in this class. This program is great for players who want to challenge themselves and see the results in their game performances.
